Valentine's Day Flowers

Valentine’s Day is that romantic time of year when you can show that special someone how much you care, and what better way then with a beautiful bouquet of flowers! Since the 15th century, couples have expressed their love for one another by offering flowers along with their sweet words. While back then they probably grew and picked their own flowers, today we have it a lot easier with the option to order endless arrangements and variations online at the click of a button. Giving your loved one a thoughtful bouquet has never been easier, and the message it holds is timeless.
So what sort of message do you want to send to your significant other? While long stemmed red roses have become the token flower of Valentine’s Day (over a hundred million roses are sold each year during Valentine’s Day), there are many other options that still send a powerful message. All of us aren’t in the exact same phase of our relationships, and luckily for us, there are different types of flowers that can say different types of things. You don't need to give flowers only to your husband/wife or girlfriend/boyfriend; with the right type of flower, you can say that you care to other important people in your life. An Aster flower, for example, represents patience. If that is something you have been struggling with or has been prominent in your relationship, it would be thoughtful to acknowledge this. A Bird of Paradise flower represents joyfulness or excitement, so this could be a good fit if you had an adventurous year with your loved one. A Lilly represents beauty, which is a simple, yet always well received compliment. A Sunflower stands for adoration and dedication, which is a beautiful way to tell someone that you are in it for the long haul. Lastly, there is always a Rose or a Tulip, which represent love.
When making your bouquet you don't have to choose just one type of flower. Handpick a bouquet that says all the things you want to express. Mix and match different flowers to tell the story of your relationship. Since not everyone knows what each flower represents, it could be a cute idea to make a flower guide for your significant other showing what each flower represents. To save yourself time, there are charts like this online you can just print out.
If you are still at a loss as to what type of flowers to send, most florists will tell you their best sellers, and this is always a safe choice. Then, you can customize other aspects of the bouquet like the ribbon color, vase shape, and more. And don't forget to write a thoughtful note so they know who it’s from! Be smart and plan ahead, now start flower shopping.
