If you are facing Perioral Dermatitis, no matter how long you have been dealing with the condition, most likely you have wondered if anything will bring full healing? I wondered the same thing many times. You see, I was healed from Perioral Dermatitis (POD), and I am committed to declaring hope and offering practical solutions to others.
There are two main directions that I could take this article because I believe there are two main components to healing from POD. One is the physical side: your body and your skin. The other is in the unseen realm: your thinking and your emotions. I am not a doctor or a psychologist and yet I have years of experience with myself and others exploring the vast realms of health and well-being.
For the purpose of this article I am going to discuss solutions pertinent to your body and your skin.
I used the word “natural” in my title because I want to pass along information that stems from the organic world so to speak. Your doctor might have prescribed antibiotics and/or a topical gel or cream. You need to decide if that path is for you or a combination of natural remedies and the medicine for your healing from this skin rash.
Here are products that I used in my healing from Perioral Dermatitis and most I still use today for my overall health:
- AKN Skin Care Supplement, by Nature’s way
Herbal blood detoxifier, comes in capsules.
2. Apply a combo of Lavender-Tea Tree Oil-Grapeseed Oil
Mix 10-15 drops each of Lavender and Tea Tree oil with 2 Tablespoons of Grapeseed Oil and apply 1-2 times a day to your skin.
3. Eliminate Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
You want to eliminate Sodium Lauryl Sulfate from your toothpaste as well as Fluoride. For some people these are strong culprits behind Perioral Dermatitis.
Now that I am free of POD I can use products with SLS if I want to.
And nobody disputes the fact that SLS is a skin and eye irritant.
4. SLS-free shampoo, soap and lotion
Most likely you can find these products at your local chain grocery store or for sure at a health food store. Burt’s Bees claims that all their products are SLS-free.
I recommend taking a relaxed approach towards your healing as much as possible. That might sound crazy to many of you! I know I just wanted to be
DONE with Perioral Dermatitis! My best friend kept encouraging me to “slow down” and “relax” because the anxiety I held towards my skin condition was only making matters worse.
So your assignment is this: Breathe, look into the mirror and be kind to your skin. You are not this disease! All of the products I mentioned are good for ALL of you, so try them out with a holistic mindset and not just to rid yourself of the Dermatitis. I believe that mindset will actually support quicker healing coming your way. Here’s to your abundant health!
